Mitchelstown Rugby Club

James Meaney

The week before last, the club was greatly saddened by the loss of James Meaney to leukemia. James had been involved with the club at under age, and junior level. In the last year even through his treatment he still found the time to help and take an active part in coaching the young boys and girls. James was a gentleman and had a great brain and mind. His positive attitude was a lesson to us all, and his cheery smile was a tonic. Those of us who knew him, from club officers to our youngest members will miss him terribly, but his attitude to life inspires us all. He will never be forgotten.

Junior1 League Division 2

All the league fixtures are published and are available on the club website. Please try to arrange any weekend breaks for the blank dates to avoid any clashes.

Give it a try Rugby/Tag rugby

The new IRFU initiative, GIAT rugby will be available for girls 10-14 years of age on Wednesdays in Currabowen from 7-8pm. The course, which is non-contact for the first four weeks, costs €10 for the entire eight weeks duration, and there will be a national blitz competition at the end.

Tag rugby for all ages will run from 7.30 to 8.30, also on Wednesday, so the girls will have the option of joining in after their session.

€ 15,200 LOTTO next Sunday

No lottery winner last Sunday week in The Hunters Rest, where. There was a large crowd in attendance, and despite excellent sales, nobody emerged victorious. The numbers drawn were 6, 13, 16, and 19. There was no jackpot winner. Many thanks to all the staff for facilitating last week’s draw, and for the sustaining coffee.

Lucky dip winners:

Pa Molan - €50, Kayla Roche - €50, Lorraine Philpott - €25, Xavier Motherway - €25

The next draw will be Sunday, 24th June 2018 in “The Mulberry Tree”, where there is always a warm welcome, and the “Take Your Pick” is now at €1,000.

The new jackpot will be €15,200 for a single winner, the highest it has ever been, or shared if more than one winner.

Entry is only €2 per pick of 4 numbers or 3 tickets for €5.

Remember, the odds of getting 4 numbers in our lottery is very close to the same as getting 4 numbers in the national lottery, but our prize is far bigger, over 250 times bigger in fact.

Annual tickets are available at €50 for 26 draws, with a bonus draw only for annuals. Contact Owen on 087-8112991 for annual tickets, or any other committee member. Rugby Club Lotto is now available to play on line at www.mitchelstownrugby.com
