The Boneyard Bulletin 06.02.20 Final League game this Sunday

Mitchelstown Rugby Club

Munster Junior Plate 02.02.2020

Due to illness in the camp the tie was conceded. A postponement was unfortunately refused by the Fixtures Committee. We are at home to Scarriff in our final league game of the season, with a win essential if we are to make the playoffs.

Under 14 development league rugby

Mitchelstown 0 Clonakilty 21

On Sunday last we hosted Clonakilty in a development game in Currabowen in what turned out to be a very spirited encounter. Clonakilty got off to a very quick start and worked in two tries in the first 10 mins. We fought back very strongly and from that point had somewhere in the region of 70% possession for the remainder of the game. The second half seen us dominate but were very unfortunate not to get back on level terms with several last gasp tackles and forced into touch several times inside the 5m line. Again our high work rate continued right through to the very end and noticeable improvements were obvious throughout the team in terms of ball handling and line breaks. This was a tough, physical game in which both teams deserve great credit.

The team lined out: Cormac Noonan, Eoghan Kelly, Conor Dooling (c), Darragh Casey, Jack O’Brien, Sean Gorry, Aidan Birmingham-Doran, Josh Kearney, Andrew McEnaney, Jack Kelly, James Keane, Gearoid Desmond, Stephen Flynn, Dylan Spillane.

Our next game is away in Ballincollig in next Saturday 8th. Details from coaches at training on Thursday

Mini Rugby – CBS Field

Under 8

The team was scarce in numbers, so a combined ‘town Highfield side, played Sunday’s Well and Highfield in very competitive games.

Under 9

The team showed up with thirteen players, so they played eight a side, borrowing three Highfield players for the second game. Mitchelstown won both games, and showed great determination, with excellent commitment from all the panel.

Under 11

The under 11’s played Sunday’s Well, and won by two tries. They also won two separate games against Highfield, winning both by 5-3 and 3-2. Great performances all round for the club, and testimony to the dedication of the players and coaches

Under 12

Good performances from the panel, bolstered by some Highfield players. Some flashes of brilliance from ‘town, with excellent tries.

All mini rugby from 5 -11 years of age now takes place on Sundays at 11.00 am, by kind permission of the CBS school. All are assured of a warm welcome, and fun is the order of the day. Throughout the year there will be blitz tournaments and other interesting days to enjoy, and many opportunities for parents to get involved, but only if they want to.

Keep in touch with your coaches for details, of this weekend

Thanks to Kevin Kelly, Ruth Gorry, Marie Meade and Leonard Moran for their reports, and all the parents who helped on the day.
