Match Report Juniors v Scariff RFC 10.11.24

Galbally/Mitchelstown 20 Scariff RFC 17

Our junior team welcomed Scariff to Galbally on Sunday. We started the match brightly and went 7-0 up after a try from Jack O’Donovan, converted by Pa Shanahan. Scariff hit back with an unconverted try after a period of sustained pressure. Just before half time, we extended our lead through a penalty from Pa Shanahan. We started the second half strongly with our pack dominating both scrum and lineout. We added another three points from the boot of Pa Shanahan. Scariff hit back with a break away try, making it a one-point game. Our pack once again fronted up and after a couple of very dominant scrums we created a try, brilliantly finished by Euan Dunne and a touchline conversion added from Pa Shanahan. Scariff hit back once more with an unconverted try, leaving it a three-point game with the game nearly over. Scariff threw everything at us in the last couple of minutes, but our defence stood strong and after an infraction at a lineout, the ref blew the final whistle, to great relief for all the home support. This was a great squad performance with several players having to play out of position at times. Notable mentions for the performances of Andrew McEnaney, Danny McGrath and Pa Shanahan. Wishing a speedy recovery to Mikey O’Dea who picked up a leg injury during the game.
