MRFC Dec 7th Weekend Match Reports
U18.5:
On Saturday last we made the journey to Tralee to take on the local side in the 1st round of the Munster Bowl competition. Despite the extremely difficult conditions of the tail end of Storm Darragh ball handling errors were at a minimum and a very competitive, physical game was played. A lot of what we worked on in the past number of weeks came together with our communications and structures really standing out. Having gone 14-0 up we slipped a try to allow Tralee a foothold in the game however an extended period of heavy defensive work on the try line in the middle period of the 1st half seen us hold out and eventually force the turnover which was cleared. This gave us the confidence to kick on and sucked the momentum out of the home side and 2 more tries were added before halftime. Turning to face into the wind in the 2nd half our work rate never let up keeping the opposition scoreless whilst adding 2 more tries of our own. This was an extremely satisfying and valuable win for this group.
Our next fixture is away to Fermoy, date and time to be confirmed.
