MRFC Feb 22nd Weekend Match Report

U14's:
Our under 14s squad travelled to Mallow for a 12pm kick-off on Saturday. The wind was against us in the first half which meant we spent most of the half struggling to get anything going in attack other than a couple of strong breaks but unfortunately, we didn’t get any reward. Our defence was strong and aggressive in the one-on-one tackles and at ruck time but 2 breaks from Mallow lead to the only 2 scores in first half, both being converted tries.
We were positive going into the second half that with the wind behind us we could start playing in Mallow’s half and get our game going which did happen when from a superb penalty kick to the corner by Cathal Meade a well worked line out got us our try scored by Issac Kenneally. Unfortunately, the wind died completely and our lads struggled without and so Mallow having the bigger the forwards put us under pressure and despite some brilliant tackling from our backs including our wingers Evan Holland and Darragh Finn, Mallow would score and put the game out of reach for our lads on the day. The final score was 36-5. Our Squad on the day was as follows: Tom O’Regan, Josh Keane, Killian O’Grady, Finbar Danne, Liam Drake, Tom Walsh, Dean Slyne, Isaac Keneally, Aaron Horgan, Cathal Meade, Joe Gallagher, Darragh Finn, Luke Walsh, Evan Holland, PJ Hogan, Anthony O’Flynn, Oisin Heaphy, Harry Finn.
Thanks for all the support from the parents as always. We train every Thursday night at 7pm at Currabowen. We are away to Dunmanway RFC on Saturday March 1st for our final game of this league phase with a win guaranteeing our lads 2nd place in the standings.
