Match Report U16's V Fermoy RFC 13.09.25
The U16 boys were away to Fermoy RFC on Saturday the 13th September, this was the first match of the season. After a lot of rain the day before there was no rain during the game but there was a strong breeze straight across the pitch making kicking a challenge.
Mitchelstown were receiving for the start of the match, Fermoy RFC took advantage to score an early try. And scored again to be 14 -0 up after 10 minutes.
The Mitchelstown players dug in and held possession and defended well for the remainder of the half with 2 well worked team tries from Michael Coughlan and Luke Slyne, with a half time score 24 -10 to the home team.
Mitchelstown restarted the second half strongly with the forwards winning our own line outs and turning over 3 of the Fermoy line outs. A further two tries from Mark O'Regan and Isaac Kenneally from line breaks and good supporting play. Cathal Meade converted the third conversion for a final score of 36-22.
If this first performance is anything to go by we will have some great games to look forward to in the coming season.
