Match Report U18.5's Galty Rugby V Carrick On Suir 28.09.25

Galty Rugby 20 - Carrick On Suir 29

On Sunday last we played the first game since our amalgamation with Kilfeacle RFC when we travelled to Kilfeacle to take on Carrick-on-Suir in the Munster U18.5 League. This team was only put together during the week having had just two training sessions together but there was no sign of unfamiliarity as the game started. We controlled the opening stages of the game including a highly impressive 12 phase period of sustained control which led to a penalty being converted by Oden van der Werff. A couple of minutes later our No 8 DJ Leopold crashed over from a 5m tap and go penalty. Carrick got a foothold in the game scoring two quick tries before Eoin Lynch reached the try line with a number of players hanging off him. The 2nd half was a physical test with Carrick taking the lead, our tighthead Pa O’Connor carried over the line after yet another sustained passage of controlled play and this was converted by Oden to leave just two points in it. Carrick scored a try in the last play of the game to finish 20-29 winners.

This was a very enjoyable game which showed a high potential team coming together for what we hope will be a successful link in with our new friends in Kilfeacle.
