Match Report U16's V Carrick-On-Suir RFC 17.10.25

Mitchelstown U16 were away to Carrick-on-Suir RFC on Friday 17 October at 7pm, under lights. It was a mild dry evening for October and the ground was dry also.

Carrick-on-Suir got off to a fast start with 2 tries within 10 minutes, with a big forward breaking through the defense from a few meters out. 12-0.

After this Mitchelstown RFC played most of the rest of the first half in the Carrick-on-Suir half. Mitchelstown lost the ball on the try line twice in this period of play with no return.
In the second half Mitchelstown RFC started well Will Howard scored from a well worked team position with some great individual skill and determination to get over the line. This was followed by a classy conversion from Cathal Meade. 12-7.
Unfortunately after that effort Carrick-on-Suir got in for another try and conversion shortly afterwards. 19-7.

In the next phase of play after a number of penalties on their own line a Carrick-on-Suir player received a yellow card. Mitchelstown RFC players were unlucky not to score when in possession within 5 meters of the line in different phases, Cathal Meade, Mark O'Regan,  Warren Murray-O'Neill, Luke Slyne and Jake Sheedy.
The players have been working really hard on defense in training, forcing a number of knock-on's and turnovers with our defensive line speed and better protecting at the ruck.

Thanks to Carrick-on-Suir RFC for the hospitality after the match.
