Match Report U14's V Sundays Well RFC 19.10.25
Mitchelstown RFC vs Sundays Well under 14s Match Report 19/10/2025
Our under 14s squad travelled to Sundays Well Virgin Media Park for an 11:30am kick-off on Sunday.
It was lovely morning for a game of rugby considering the weather from the day before. The game
started even enough with both sides testing each other with some strong runs from the forwards
and some good passing out the backs. It was Sundays Well who scored first with 2 very well worked
tries down either wing. This didn’t stop our lads working hard in attack and defense, our Half back
Ryan Kinsella and Evan Holland showing some good footwork while Zack Wims showed his strength
in getting over the gain line and eventually from a secure scrum lead by Ciaran Gallagher, Oisin
Heaphy and Dean Slyne, a pick directly from the scrum allowed us to score our first try of the season.
Sundays well fought back and put us under pressure especially our back three but each of them
worked well from Alex Creed tackling everything that came down his wing to Matty Coughlan being
cool and calm under the high ball and kicks over the top and Darren Cunningham working hard
talking and tackling throughout.
The 2nd half was very even with neither team taking complete control and the game being played
very fair and hard from both sides, always great to see from teams at this level. It took cross field
kick from the Well to get the first score of the half but our lads battled through with lads working
hard especially in our forwards winning lineouts against the head and strong tackles when needed,
Fionn Mclaughlin was superb especially in the 2 nd half at blindside flanker. We scored off a forward
tap and go which proved to be the last score of the game. The final score would be 29-12 to Sundays
Well but a great game of rugby all round: Liam Drake(Captain), Dean Slyne, Ciaran Gallagher, Ryan
Kinsella , Evan Holland, Zack Wims, Alex Creed, Darren Cunningham, Matty Coughlan, Fionn
McLaughlan, Oisin Heaphy.
Thanks for all the travelling support from the parent as always, its brilliant to have the lads cheered
one from the sideline. Thanks also to Sundays Well for the refreshments after the game and being
brilliant hosts. We will be training every Thursday night at 7pm at Currabowen any new players
welcome. Our next match will be away to Fermoy Sunday November 2 nd .
