U14’s
Our under 14s hosted Bandon for an 11:00am kick-off on Saturday. Both teams started off the match very even, Mitchelstown controlled the ball and worked through phases well, unfortunately we could not make this count and once Bandon started to gain a footing in the match, their strong runners put us under serious pressure. Our big tacklers stepped up, Zach, Evan and Liam making sure Bandon had to work hard to get anything. The pressure would turn into points for Bandon and they would score 2 tries to get a 12-0 lead. We had a great chance to score at the end of the first half but we rushed it and couldn’t convert.
We wanted to go into the 2nd half and not repeat the same mistakes we did in the first and we did for the most part but there was a repeat of Bandon making their chances count from our missed tackles and we couldn’t get over the line for our couple of chances which was frustrating but there was a couple of things we were delighted to see, Oran Fox having an outstanding game at scrum half in his first ever game at the position and TJ Walsh playing in his first ever rugby match and showing savage tackling skills well done to both lads. The match would finish 19-0 to Bandon but was a good game overall

Thanks for all the support, it’s brilliant to have the lads cheered on from the sideline. Thanks also to our Mar referee Mark Walsh and Bandon for travelling. We will be training every Thursday night at 7pm at Currabowen any new players welcome. Our next match will be at home to Kinsale in 2 weeks’ time.
