Juniors:
**Galbally/Mitchelstown hold their nerve in tight An Baile Loiscthe contest**
Galbally/Mitchelstown claimed a hard-earned 24–21 victory over Rugbaí Chorca Dhuibhne RFC in a fiercely contested encounter at An Baile Loiscthe, with strong second-half resilience proving the difference.
The home side made the brighter start, opening the scoring with a converted try to take an early 7–0 lead. Galbally/Mitchelstown responded well and began to assert themselves through powerful ball carrying across the pack. That pressure paid off when Jack O’Donovan crossed for the visitors’ opening try, with Graham Bourke adding the conversion to level the contest.
Momentum swung further in Galbally/Mitchelstown’s favour before the break. Sustained phases in the opposition 22 saw Dan Gleeson force his way over the line for a well-earned try, once again converted by Bourke, giving the visitors a 14–7 advantage at half-time.
Rugbaí Chorca Dhuibhne came out with renewed intent after the interval and quickly closed the gap with another converted try to bring the score back to 14–14. Galbally/Mitchelstown responded in impressive fashion, with Jack O’Donovan once again leading from the front. The dynamic forward crossed twice in the second half, both tries unconverted, to give his side a crucial cushion heading into the closing stages.
The home side continued to apply pressure and were rewarded with a converted try on the final play of the match, but it proved too late to deny Galbally/Mitchelstown, who held on for a deserved bonus point victory.
Jack O’Donovan was a standout performer, contributing three tries and carrying relentlessly throughout, while Dan Gleeson delivered a powerful all-round display in the forward pack. Excellent ball carrying and collective effort across the squad underpinned a strong team performance.

U18.5:
On the recent Bank Holiday Monday we played host to Cashel in the last round of the Munster Bowl group stage in Kilfeacle where we came out on top of a very tight game. Cashel opened quickly and with the aid of a very strong wind quickly established themselves deep in our half. A converted try put them ahead but despite this early set back the lads settled and gained a foothold in the game with a well worked try through centre DJ Leopold. With the wind dominating the game the 1st half was a very heavy defensive effort with us succeeding in only conceding one more try before halftime to leave the score 05-12 at the turn around. We got off to a flying start with another DJ try and this was followed by two more by Oden van der Werff with Sean White converting all three second half tries to leave us run out 26-19 winners after the most complete team performance of the season. This 2nd win in a row leaves us joint top of the table and we now look forward to the knockout stages where we enter at quarter final stage.

U14:
Our under 14s hosted Kinsale for an 12:30pm kick-off on Sunday. The first half proved to be a tough half for our lads going up against a well drilled Kinsale team. We had to do a lot of defending and couldn’t keep them at bay despite some great tackles, in particular Senan McCormick making a big tackle on the Kinsale number 8. We would finish the first half behind by a good few scores but determined to make a better showing in the 2nd half.
That is exactly what we did and through some good work from a lineout move we got our first try though Zach Wims. We continued to try and get back into the game, and we did score another try but Kinsale did not let up either and their backs were full of running. The match would end 45-12 to Kinsale, our team on the day was:
Team from: Liam Drake(Captain), Dean Slyne, Ciaran Gallagher, Ryan Kinsella, Evan Holland, Zack Wims, Alex Creed, Darren Cunningham, Matty Coughlan, Fionn McLaughlan, Oisin Heaphy, Oran Fox, Jamie Dooley, Aaron Horgan, Senan McCormick, Issac Walsh, Ryan Maguire, Jacob Stack, Pearce O’Sullivan, TJ Walsh, Bobby Walsh .
Thanks for all the support, it’s brilliant to have the lads cheered on from the sideline. Thanks also to Kinsale for travelling and Louis for reffing the game. We will be training every Thursday night at 7pm at Currabowen with any new players welcome. Our next match will be at home to Dunmanway in 2 weeks’ time.
