On Saturday last we kicked off the 2024/2025 season with a home game against Douglas/Muskerry in the South Munster league. Given that this was the first game of the year the rust was obvious and despite not playing poorly found ourselves 0-19 down to a very well drilled and physical side. We regrouped at halftime and gained a foothold in the game early with a great try when Conor Dooling forced his opposing winger to spill the ball, a couple of phases later and Conor was on hand to finish off the move he started and the conversion followed. This score swung momentum and belief in our favour, with a strong breeze we made use of a very clever kicking game to force territory. Two tries later by Ben Cooke, both converted, had us well on top but time ran out to see up come up short by three points with the final score at 21-24. This was a really spirited game and gives us a lot of belief heading into the next phase of games, this first of which is up next Saturday against Carrick-on-Suir in Currabowen at 1600.
